4:14 The challenge
- →A derelict offshore platform had multiple wells leaking to the open Gulf.
- →Conductor / surface casing corroded and severed near the waterline; drivepipe missing.
- →Live shut-in pressures to ~2,100 psi with degraded, partly inoperable tree valves.
Our solution
Gunnar led a boat- and drone-based assessment alongside the state regulator, then mobilized a liftboat intervention with pressure-control partners. Slickline operations equalized and bled trapped pressure, restored tree-valve function, and tagged and cleared a downhole obstruction; a staged balanced-cement-plug procedure was engineered for permanent P&A.
Leaking orphan wells assessed and secured for the state
The result
2 wells
secured, leaking orphan wells on a derelict platform
- ·Boat- and drone-based assessment of the abandoned platform
- ·Found multiple wells flowing, casing corroded/severed near the waterline
- ·Slickline intervention equalized & bled trapped pressure (to ~2,100 psi)
- ·Engineered a staged balanced-cement-plug procedure for permanent P&A
