  Gunnar Sets a World Ranging-Distance Record and Kills a Permian Blowout in Under a Week

  In the Permian Basin of West Texas, Gunnar drilled a relief well that located its target at a world-record 306.11 ft center-to-center, roughly 6x the longest range of any ranging system, then executed a dynamic kill of a blowout flowing more than 8,000 bbl/day and permanently sealed the well, all in under a week.

  The USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board denied Scientific Drilling's challenge to Gunnar's wired-pipe and coiled-tubing ranging-while-drilling patent (U.S. No. 12,110,780).

  Georgy Rassadkin, Gunnar's Ranging Domain Manager, has been elected Director at Large of the SPE Wellbore Positioning Technical Section (ISCWSA), helping steer the global standards body for wellbore surveying and ranging accuracy.

  Gunnar and ExxonMobil Present World-First Wired-Pipe Magnetic Ranging-While-Drilling at SPE/ISCWSA #62

  At the ISCWSA 62nd General Meeting, Gunnar's Clinton Moss and ExxonMobil's Chad Anton presented field results from the world's first commercial deployment of active magnetic ranging-while-drilling on powered drill pipe, in the high-resistivity, salt and oil-based-mud conditions where conventional wireline ranging struggles.
