4:14 The challenge
- →Re-abandon two legacy offshore wells to modern standards.
- →One well: isolate permeable zones and restore cap-rock integrity to enable CCS repurposing.
- →The other: regain access to a whipstocked main wellbore for permanent P&A.
- →Define the lowest-risk route, direct re-entry vs. a relief / intercept well.
Our solution
Evaluated both wells end-to-end. For the first: an intercept well to locate the wellhead, intersect, cut a window, verify with a target-well CBL, set internal cement barriers and remediate the annulus through the window. For the second: a fishing-whipstock concentric-access route compared against a deep-sidetrack intercept well.
Re-abandonment of both wells assessed feasible, execution planned 2026
The result
Feasible
2 wells, re-abandonment / P&A
- ·Re-abandonment assessed technically feasible, high probability of success
- ·100% track record cited: intersect, window-cut, target CBL, internal barriers
- ·Restores cap-rock integrity to support CCS repurposing
- ·Two access routes scoped, whipstock concentric access vs. intercept well
